Dipity is a free, collaborative, amazing digital tool for creating timelines. Users can upload images, videos, add text, and even provide map locations for each item in the timeline. This timeline creation tool could be used for collaborative group projects illustrating a series of events over time or for students even to introduce themselves as a series of major life events. For instructors, one benefit of Dipity as well is that a quick and easy list-view is provided to simplify grading.

  2. Beth Alsen - Mesa Community College says:

Dipity is my ALL TIME FAV! This timeline exceeds all others. The main reason that I prefer this timeline to the others is because of the map feature. I teach the ELL Court Cases in which my students have to create a micro-teach about the case. Therefore, I use this tool as a reference so that they do not have to waste valuable time finding an appropriate court case. Additionally, Dipity allows for you to link a video and picture. When I have a court case that does not have any media footage, I add images and video to show the political climate of the time period. This helps them build their prior knowledge to better understand the court case. With Dipity you get 3 free timelines but, if you want more, you have to upgrade.
