Excellent curation tool for the classroom. Curating content is an educational exercise in searching and pulling together relevant information. Pinterest is one of the better tools out there to do this. Have students research the background of a topic and pin their finds. Lots of ideas on how curation can enhance learning are out there. Pinterest allows you to pin a website using an image or video as the place holder. Very easy to use, available both on the iPad and on the web. The web is slightly easier to use as you can browse a bit more easily but you can pin and view pins using the App or Web.

Love this App! Honestly, when I first heard about it…I thought, “Oh no, great…an app to put up hair do’s and dresses…lame!” However, now I use it ALL the time! And, even better, I use it to organize my lesson ideas according to design theory! I know…right! However, I also use it to collect my presentations such as Buncee so that I don’t have to remember where it is…such a time saver!

For my class, I have had my honor students who have to teach a lesson research according to the standards a topic and then, collect all their ideas to present the lesson on a board. They loved how easy it is to organize and brainstorm based off of the ideas collected! What a great app for teachers who already have too little time!

I teach future teachers. A signature assignment in our program requires students to design their future classroom. This cumulative assignment actually allows students to demonstrate how their philosophy of education is evident on classroom design. I gave students the option to use Pinterest for the assignment to pin tools, resources, and furniture ideas for their classroom. Each pin required an explanation that connected to their philosophy of teaching. Students were also provided the option to draw their classroom, but the majority chose Pinterest. This digital tool enhanced the assignment expectations and provided students with a new resource for exploring education tools virtually.

Pintrest (obviously) is a girls’ best friend. You can find anything on it from nail art to hair tutorials and even classroom ideas! This is a way for teachers to share their ideas with others or to borrow someone else’s ideas. So many times teachers don’t know other ways of setting up their classroom or doing a certain activity, but with Pintrest, people can search for ideas and it is just a click away! Super easy and super fun. Just make sure not to spend too much time on it like I do. 🙂

I really love this idea of being able to search and share ideas with this app. It personally helped me a lot for my micro teach in Beth’s education class. All the ideas for the lesson activities came from searching them on the net. However, with ability to pin them, I now will never forget them. It is so easy to use and manage…you can simply attach an idea to a board and this is a pin. It does not get easier than this. Also, I can download the ideas to my cellphone and use them later…love it!

Being creative isn’t for everyone, but Pinterest can help the build this in you by giving you tons of ideas and resources to make your content more meaningful to your students. I love using this app there is so many fun creative ideas that I would have never thought of myself. For example, we created water cycle lanterns and hung htem up…I completely stole this one from Pinterest! The students love the lesson ideas…all I have to do is make them my own. However, having brilliant friends online creating these so that I can pin away is the best time saver of all! So, get started and Pin away!

This app is one of my favorites! At first I was just using it to get ideas for my future home and wedding and cute outfits but then I started to actually use it for my job. I worked at an elementary school as a reading and math tutor. I found so many great ideas through this app. It is like a second Google. I plan on continuing to use it for classroom ideas and I like the idea of organizing my boards according to design theory.

This app is very effective. There are so many ideas out there on almost everything you need to know about being a teacher. It is great to have a place where you can use others ideas. We do not have to come up with everything ourselves, just modify others ideas to our teaching style and our students learning style.

It will impact the way I decorate my classroom to the way I teach.

I’m not an educator now although I hope to be one someday, I found Pinterest rather by accident. Aside from military history and history in general, I also have a wide range of hobbies that keep me occupied during my off time. I wasn’t aware it could be used as an educational tool. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, although misinterpretation is a problem, however, at the graduate level you’re expected to do way more reading than looking at the pretty pictures.
