Calling all Heroes…let’s power up the learning! Hero Machine is very similar to Hero Factory except that it has many more options! You can change just about everything…with options galore. However, the graphics are not as clean as Hero Factory. But, if you want to give students a lot options to create themselves as superheros, this is your App. Again, using this to create community is an easy way for students to describe who they are by emphasizing their strengths. And, as stated before creating a class timeline with everyone’s hero either on the wall or digitally using Dipity or Timetoast is an great way to showcase your class! It makes the scrapbook, but possibly a souvenir that may collect some dust.

  2. Megan Garvy - Mesa Community College says:

I’m on the fence with this one… I used this with college students and to build community for professional development, and I think both are the wrong audience. The app is fun to use, but I think it is better for K-12 students. Superheroes are more relevant to this age group. This could be embedded into my storytelling class as to infuse into personal tellings. Creating the superhero takes a great deal of thought and explanation, if it truly represents YOU.

  3. Beth Alsen - Mesa Community College says:

Phi Theta Kappa powered up leadership and service by using a HERO Machine! After completing a strengths quest they created a google presentation and gave each student access. From there, they defined their strengths and talents as to what they could offer the organization both professionally and personally. They used Hero Machine to create their superhero selfie!
