Jing is a great way to create a quick screencast (computer screen recording + audio). It is a downloadable program for Macs or PC computers. It has a 5 minute recording limit for the screencasts. In addition to screencasts though, Jing can take pictures of your computer screen and then lets you annotate them. So if you are documenting something, Jing is a great quick and easy way to make simple edits on screen captures. The resulting video can be uploaded into Youtube or posted directly on Screencast.com.

Jing was my all-time Fav back when I was on Route 66! It is a simple and easy to use screencast tool that allows you to make quick recordings. I have used this tool for both my face-to-face and online class to teach how to navigate the course. When planning a trip, everyone knows the trip goes a lot smoother if you have a road map! And, with this tool, I created a navigational road map so that my students could easily get started in the course! Screencasting was better than the LMS tutorials because the students can see it exactly how they experience it. I rated this a three since you cannot edit… The 5 minute version is simply screen cast and go. So, I am not adding this tool to my scrapbook!

I really like Jing. I have used this app several times to create tutorials to teach students how to navigate through courses and to use new digital tools. It is simple to access and use this tool on your computer.
