    Cute fun tool that can be used by instructors or students to create a short animated movie with 2 characters. Students can give introductions, can present content, etc. It takes a little more work to get up and running than a talking head type tool such as Voki as there are several steps in creating the dialog but the result is engaging. The only downside to the tool is that each user is given a limited number of “credits” and once those credits are used up there is a cost to creating more animations. So only a limited amount of animations can be created free of charge.

    Creating a safe learning environment in a fully online course can be challenging at times. Some students do not mind posting pictures about themselves while other would rather not get so personal. Therefore, I use Extranormal for students to introduce themselves in the course. However, it can go beyond a community builder activity to relaying content. For example, the student could role-play as the content expert resolving a problem based on theory.
