About VideoAnt
VideoAnt is a web-based video annotation tool for mobile and desktop devices. Use VideoAnt to add annotations, or comments, to web-hosted videos. Then share with others so they can add their own or comment on annotations of others.
VideoAnt supports annotation of any publicly accessible video file or YouTube video.
VideoAnt-annotated videos are called “Ants”. Create a user account to create and save collections of Ants. Authenticated users can manage their Ants from their account dashboard, otherwise known as their “Ant Farm”.
VideoAnt was designed for use in the classroom. VideoAnt can act as an open forum for instructors and their students to post their responses to a video. Uses include support for lecture presentations, facilitated class discussion, peer review, and reflection.

Videos are a great instructional tool but a video does not necessarily speak for itself. In online classes it is also hard to facilitate discussion around videos since the typical discussion board is linear in layout and not connected to the timing of the video. Video Ant is a great tool for creating annotations and engaging discussions around videos. Instructors or students can create an Ant, annotate it at any time in the video, and share it with others to add their annotations or responses to other’s annotations.
