Adjunct Faculty, OYO, OSO Award
Application
Applications must include and will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Teaching Philosophy
- Examples of how you engage in innovative and effective teaching methods and describe how they contribute to your students’ success
- Example(s) of a change in practice as a result of student feedback (standard course student survey, etc.)
- Description of the professional development you have undergone in the past couple of years and how it has impacted your teaching
- Curriculum Vita
Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
Eligibility
The MCC Endowed Teaching Chair Award faculty applicants must:
- Be an adjunct, OYO, or OSO faculty member who has taught for MCC a minimum of two consecutive years (fall/spring semesters)
- Be performing his/her normal college job during the application and selection process and
- Complete the entire application process
Timeline
Deadline are 11:59PM on stated date:
- Adjunct/OSO/OYO Application Deadline: March 1, 2023
- Award announcement: Week of March 24, 2023
Note:
Recipients forfeit their stipends if…
- The award recipient moves from an instruction position to an administrative position during the term of the award.
- The faculty member leaves the college.
Residential Faculty Award (Anticipated AY2023-24)
Nomination Process (Residential Faculty Only)
Eligible faculty may self nominate or be nominated by students, peers, staff, administrators, business leaders, and community members for the award. To be nominated complete a nomination form . All eligible candidates will be contacted by a representative of the selection committee to ascertain his/her interest in pursuing the application process. The nomination process is required for consideration of the award and is for the Residential Faculty award only.

Application (Residential Faculty only)
Upon notification by the committee, selected faculty are then invited to submit an application to the Center for Teaching and Learning. The CTL will then transmit the applications in an anonymous format to the chair of the selection committee to promote impartiality.
Applications must include and will be assessed on some of the following criteria:
- Teaching Philosophy
- Evidence of assessing one of the 4C’s
- Evidence of a change in practice as a result of student feedback (standard course student survey, SGID’s, etc.)
- Examples of how you engage in innovative and effective teaching methods, undergraduate research, counseling, etc. and how that contributes to the improvement of your students’ success in courses and programs
- Professional development and how it has impacted your teaching
- Curriculum Vita
- Additional resources may be included such as student support, references, etc.
Incomplete applications will be disqualified. To the extent possible, all applications will remain anonymous, to the extent possible, to members of the screening committee.
Finalists will be chosen by a screening committee. Those finalists will be asked to give a 15 minute presentation or micro-teach, that demonstrates to the Awarding Committee, how the faculty member demonstrates excellence in teaching and learning, quality instruction, engagement in innovative and effective teaching practices. This will be followed by a 5 minute question and answer period.
Eligibility
The MCC Endowed Teaching Chair Award process is time intensive. To qualify for participation, nominated faculty must:
- Be residential, full time teaching faculty at MCC
- Be performing his/her normal college job during the application and selection process and
- Complete the entire application process
