  • Drs. Ken and Rebecca Boren Endowed Teaching Chair – Two awards for residential faculty of $10,000 each, distributed over a two-year period

  • MCC Endowed Teaching Chair – One award for residential faculty of $10,000 each, distributed over a two-year period

  • MCC Endowed Teaching Chair (Adjunct/OSO/OYO) – One award for OYO/OSO/Adjunct Faculty at $2,000, distributed over a two-year period

Residential Faculty Award Application Process

Timeline

  • Finalists Presentation to Awarding Committee: Week of April 27, 2026
  • Award Presentation: Week of May 4, 2026

2026 Residential Application

Residential faculty are invited to submit an application to the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). To support an impartial review process, the CTL will prepare applications in an anonymized format before transmitting them to the chair of the selection committee.

Applications should demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence and may include the following elements:

  • Teaching strategies and instructional approaches
  • Evidence of student learning
  • Instructional improvements informed by data
  • Student engagement practices
  • Contributions to the teaching community
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Applicants may also include additional supporting materials, such as examples of student support, letters of reference, or other relevant documentation.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. To the extent possible, all applications will remain anonymous to members of the screening committee during the initial review process. Applications must be submitted by an individual faculty member. Collaborative teaching initiatives may be described within the application; however, joint or team submissions are not permitted.

Following the initial review, finalists will be selected by the screening committee and invited to present to the Awarding Committee. Finalists will deliver a 15-minute presentation or micro-teaching demonstration illustrating how their work reflects excellence in teaching and learning, quality instruction, and innovative or effective teaching practices. The presentation will be followed by a 5-minute question-and-answer period.

Eligibility

Because the Endowed Teaching Chair selection process requires a significant commitment of time and participation, applicants must:

  • Be residential, full-time teaching faculty at Mesa Community College.
  • Be actively performing their regular faculty duties during the application and selection process.
  • Have completed at least three years of teaching at Mesa Community College prior to the application deadline.
  • Complete all components of the application and selection process.
  • Be a faculty member in good standing with the college at the time of application and throughout the selection process.
  • Previous recipients of an MCC Endowed Teaching Chair Award are not eligible to apply again for the same award.

Adjunct Faculty, OYO, OSO Award

2026 OYO/OSO/Adjunct Faculty Application

Adjunct, OYO, and OSO faculty are invited to submit an application to the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Applications should demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness and may include the following elements:

  • Teaching philosophy
  • Examples of innovative or effective teaching strategies and how they support student success
  • An example of a change in teaching practice informed by student feedback (such as course student surveys)
  • A description of professional development completed in recent years and how it has influenced instructional practice
  • Curriculum vitae

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be an adjunct, OYO, or OSO faculty member who has taught at Mesa Community College for at least two consecutive academic years (fall and spring semesters) and is currently teaching or has taught within the most recent academic year
  • Be actively performing their regular instructional responsibilities during the application and selection process
  • Complete all components of the application process
  • Be a faculty member in good standing with the college at the time of application
  • Previous recipients of an MCC Endowed Teaching Chair Award are not eligible to apply again for the same award.
